2023 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport unveiled with improved power output

Toyota has introduced 2023 Fortuner GR Sport in Thailand launched in Thailand at Rs 1,939 million baht (which is about Rs 46 lakh), bringing improved power outputs. The Japanese carmaker offers the SUV in three variants in the country, Leader, Legender, and the range-topping GR Sport. Meanwhile, the colour options for the GR Sport trim include Emotional Red Black Top, Pearl White Pearl Black Top, and Attitude Black Mika.

2023 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport: Engine, power outputs, transmission

Powering the Thailand-spec Fortuner GR Sport is a 2.8-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine. It now makes an additional 20PS and 50Nm of torque, totalling 224PS and 550Nm of torque. Mated to this engine is a six-speed automatic transmission. Toyota has also equipped the 2023 GR Sport with a four-wheel-drive system.

2023 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport: Updated features

On top of the performance upgrade, Toyota has outfitted the 2023 Fortuner GR Sport with a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which now offers wireless connectivity Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Further, the entry-level variant features a wireless charging pad, while the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is now standard across all variants. In addition, there are new GR-spec brakes, a larger set of 20-inch wheels, and monotube dampers.

On the inside, the cabin now gets aluminium pedals, a key fob and engine start/stop switch, and GR-spec sport seats. Above all, Toyota has equipped the SUV with the Toyota Safety Sense - a suite of advanced driver assiatance system.

2023 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport: India launch

The on-sale Fortuner GR-S is priced at Rs 50.74 lakh (ex-showroom) in India, which costs a whopping Rs 61.35 lakh on-road Mumbai. We expect Toyota to launch the 2023 Fortuner GR Sport in the country in the coming months. Given the addition of features and tuned up powertrain, the refreshed SUV is likely to command a higher premium over the current model.
