Suzuki to build a new motorcycle plant in India

Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) is building a new motorcycle plant at Rohtak in Haryana. SMIPL already has a plant in Gurgaon which was set up in 2006 from where it manufactures the Swish, Access scooters and GS150R and Slingshot motorcycles. The plot approved for the Rohtak site is part of the land which is allotted to Maruti Suzuki India Limited.
The plant is expected to be complete in 2014 with pegged annual production capacity of five lakh units. Currently SMIPL has the Swish, Access, Zeus, Slingshot and GS150R in its portfolio for the Indian market apart from a host of sports and super bikes.
