Skoda Rapid Rider Plus discontinued in India
Skoda Auto India has discontinued the popular Skoda Rapid Rider Plus variant from the Rapid sedan's lineup. Production of this version has stopped, with sales continuing only up until dealer inventory runs out. The Rapid Rider Plus was positioned above the base Skoda Rapid Rider, adding a few more features and an automatic option.
The Skoda Rapid Rider Plus was offered with a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, all four one-touch power windows, auto climate control, rear AC vents, central locking, powered ORVMs, adjustable steering and two airbags among other features. The Rider Plus also saw the addition of external embellishments over the Rider like chrome window garnishes, side decals and trunk lip garnish. The interiors were spruced up by stainless steel scuff plates on the door sills, and a dual-tone colour theme. Four paint options were offered, Brilliant Silver, Toffee Brown, Candy White and Carbon Steel.
The Rapid Rider Plus was powered by the 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol, as seen on the Skoda Kushaq, making a similar 110PS and 175Nm. This motor was paired with a six-speed manual or torque converter automatic. Prices started from Rs 8.19 lakh, ex-showroom. The base Rider variant seems to still be on offer, with the Ambition version being the next step-up. Read our review of the Skoda Rapid TSI here.
