Maruti Suzuki has launched the new generation Swift in India. The new hatchback has been priced from Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in a choice of five variants, namely LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, and ZXi+ across various paint schemes. The top-spec ZXi+ also comes with dual-tone colour options. That being said, Maruti has already started bookings for a token amount of Rs 11,000.

Maruti Suzuki Swift: Design & Interior

The newest Maruti Suzuki Swift is identical to the model available in the international markets. However, the India-spec model gets a few subtle cosmetic changes. It comes with LED projector headlamps, boomerang-patterned daytime driving lights, C-shaped taillamps, a large octagonal-shaped grille, and 15-inch alloy wheels. Overall, the new Swift looks sportier compared to its predecessor. Meanwhile, Maruti now offers two new colours: Luster Blue and Novel Orange. Customers can personalise their new Swift with two optional accessory packs: Thrill chaser and Racing Roadster.

Inside, it has a new interior layout which also appears familiar. There is a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SmartPlay Pro+, an analogue instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch MID, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB Type-C charging ports, Arkamys sound system, wireless charging pad, Suzuki connect with over 40 features, cruise control, hill hold assist, six airbags, and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP).

Maruti Suzuki Swift: Engine

The next-gen Swift comes powered by a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated Z12E petrol engine producing 81.58PS at 5,700rpm and 111.7Nm of torque at 4,300rpm. This motor is coupled to a five-speed manual and an AMT. This engine claimed to be 14 per cent more economical over its predecessor, providing a mileage of 25.75kmpl.

The previous was powered by a 1.2-litre, inline four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that made 90PS and 113Nm of torque. This motor was mated to a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT transmission. Meanwhile, the Maruti Swift takes on the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tigor.
