Powering the GTS range is the 4.0-litre, twin turbocharged, V8 engine, which has been tuned up to deliver more power than its predecessor - 40PS and 40Nm, to be specific. Hence, the power output is rated at 500PS and 660Nm, respectively. In addition, Porsche has tweaked the eight-speed automatic transmission, offering "shorter response and shift times in Sport and Sport Plus modes".

The Cayenne GTS & GTS Coupe get subtle cosmetic updates, such as slightly redesigned front and rear ends, black finished elements, dark bronze exhaust tips. It also comes with new 21-inch RS Spyder alloy wheels. One of the three packages, such as this Sport Design package, claims to reduce weight of the GTS by up to 25kg.

The cockpit carries over a familiar layout, featuring a 12.6-inch driver display and a 12.3-inch centre information hub, while a 10.9-inch co-passenger display is available as an optional extra. Other features include ambient lighting, powered seats with memory function, Bose sound system, a panoramic glass roof, connected car tech, and telematics, among others.

The suspension system has undergone changes. While the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus is now standard on the GTS models, they also get a new axle pivot bearing for the front suspension, borrowed from the Cayenne Turbo GT, to improve handling and agility.

The German marque says that the GTS further features a reworked transfer box for the all-wheel drive system with a 'water cooling circuit' also borrowed from the Turbo GT to help 'stabilise continuous load capacity' while driving on the racetrack.
