1.76 lakh EV sales in 2025; MG Windsor bags most selling EV of 2025

The JSW MG Motor India's Windsor EV has bagged the spot of the most selling electric vehicle of the year 2025 by registering a sale of 46,735 units. MG Windsor is the top selling EV of 2025

- Recorded an annual sale of 46,735 units
- Averaging a monthly sale of 4,000 units
- The brand has seen an uptick of 111% in EV sales on a Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) basis

MG Windsor EV recorded the the highest Month-on-Month (M-o-M) sales consistently throughout CY2025 by averaging approximately 4,000 units per month. The feat is exclusive to just MG Windsor EV, as no other product in the four-wheeler EV space has ever achieved such a milestone.

The company registered an overall growth of 19% and a significant uptick of 111% in its EV sales compared to CY2024. The company claims that it has witnessed consistent demand from not only Tier I cities, but also from non-metros and Tier II markets. According to the Vehicle Retail Data from FADA, the EV growth in passenger vehicle segment stands at a healthy 77.04 % with a sale of 1,76,817 units for the CY2025 as opposed to 99,875 units sold in CY2024.

And according to FADA Research, there has been a sale of 3,79,671 passenger vehicles in December 2025, as compared to 2,99,799 units sold for the same period last year. That records a growth of 26.64% and if we look at the yearly data, a total of 44,75,309 units have been sold in 2025, against 40,79,532 units in the previous year.

The Online Member Survey conducted by FADA also expects a growth of 77.86% in the year 2026 and 74.91% growth in the next three months.

The MG Windsor EV is offered with two battery packs- a 38 kWh and a 52.9 kWh battery pack, the former claims a range of 332 km and the later offers 449 km of range on a single charge. The motor produces 136 PS and 200 Nm of peak torque for both the battery packs. Exterior features include projector LED headlamps, 18-inch dual tone alloy wheels, and flush door handles to name a few. Inside the cabin, you get dual-tone ivory interiors, PM2.5 filter, a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 9-speaker audio system by Infinity, an 8.8-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a wireless smartphone charger, fully automatic temperature control, vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle functionality.

The safety kit comprises of six-airbags, three-point seatbelt for all seats, hill hold assist, hill descent control, all four disc brakes, rain sensing wipers and auto headlamps to name a few. The Windsor EV also comes with Level 2 ADAS functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Front Collision Warning (FCW), and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) among others.

The MG Windsor EV locks horns with the likes of the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra XUV400 and Hyundai Creta EV to name a few.
