Mercedes-Benz T-class makes debut as all-new luxury van

Mercedes-Benz has announced its all-new Mercedes-Benz T-class, a luxurious van from the German automaker that seats 5 passenger. The Mercedes-Benz T-Class will be available in Europe later this year with a limited selection of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines and a standard wheelbase.

Mercedes-Benz T-class: Exterior

While most of the van's components are all-new, the Mercedes-Benz T-class shares a lot of its looks with the Renault Kangoo that it shares its DNA. It uses conventionally hinged doors up front and sliding doors at the rear.

The van will be available in 2 trims: Style and Progressive.

A near-vertical tailgate opens at the bumper level in the back, revealing a revealing an adequate amount of space and customers can choose between a twin 'barn door' layout and a single 'barn door' arrangement. The Mercedes-Benz T-class comes with 16-inch steel or 16-inch alloy wheels as standard, with 17-inch alloy wheels available as an option.

Mercedes-Benz T-class: Engines

The front-wheel-drive  Mercedes-Benz T-Class comes with a two four-cylinder petrol engines and two four-cylinder diesel engines. The 1.3-litre petrol engines provide 101PS in the T160 and 129PS in the T180, while the T160d and T180d diesel engines produce 94PS and 114PS, respectively.

A 6-speed manual transmission is standard, with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission available as an option for the more powerful petrol and diesel engines.

Mercedes-Benz T-class: Interior

The MBUX infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto compatibility comes standard on the T-Class, but there isn't any digital instrument cluster as on other Mercedes models. Remote services, voice assistant, keyless entry, ambient lighting, and Artico man-made leather upholstery are just a few of the features.

The Mercedes-Benz T-Class is equipped with seven airbags and a variety of driver assistance systems. The optional Driving Assistance Package, which includes Active Distance Assist Distronic and Active Steering Assist, enhances the latter.

Mercedes-Benz T-class: Future models

A long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz T-Class with room for 2 extra passengers is expected to join the line-up next year. There are also rumours that an EV powertrain is in the pipeline.

We have to also wait and watch if this latest offering from Mercedes-Benz will make its way to India in the future.
