New-gen Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series confirmed, global debut likely in 2026
Mercedes-AMG is preparing an extreme new version of its GT supercar, the next-generation Black Series, and it is expected to debut sometime in 2026.

This model will be the most hardcore road-legal car AMG has ever produced, with development closely linked to the brand's upcoming GT3 race car that is planned for the 2027 racing season.
The new GT Black Series is derived from the Concept AMG GT Track Sport, which forms the technical base for both the road car and the race machine. As a result, the production model will effectively act as a bridge between motorsport and road-going performance.
Like previous Black Series models, the focus will be on integrating race-inspired engineering into a street-legal package. The lineage of these extreme AMG cars dates back to models such as the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Black Series, and the new GT aims to carry that tradition forward.

Early prototype sightings already hint at dramatic styling changes influenced by the GT3 racer. The car is expected to feature a much more aggressive aerodynamic setup, including a large front splitter, vented wheel arches, a redesigned rear section, a massive rear wing, and a larger diffuser. These components are designed to increase downforce and improve track capability.
Power will likely come from an upgraded version of AMG's familiar 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Reports suggest it could also incorporate a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, marking another step toward electrified high-performance models from AMG. This powertrain is expected to appear in several limited-run AMG vehicles in the future.
Performance is expected to surpass the previous Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, which produced 730 PS and 800 Nm of torque. That means the new model should deliver quicker acceleration, higher top speeds, and improved overall performance.
Development of the car is happening alongside the next-generation AMG GT3 race car, managed by Affalterbach Racing GmbH. This racing programme builds on AMG's customer racing history that started with the SLS AMG GT3 and continued with the current GT3 and its Evo versions.
While the GT3 will compete on racetracks around the world, the upcoming GT Black Series will bring the same uncompromising performance philosophy to a road-legal supercar.
