The Porsche 911 Hybrid will debut in 2024
Porsche has officially confirmed the forthcoming introduction of the Porsche 911 hybrid. The new 992.2 version of the 911 will debut early this summer, reportedly with a non-plug-in six-cylinder hybrid engine. Porsche CEO Oliver Blume stated that the electrified 911 will be equipped with technology derived from the world of motorsport.
The 911 Hybrid, as well as the new Panamera, Taycan, and electric Macan, will make their debut in 2024, making it the largest year in Porsche history for product introductions.
Very little is known about the 911 hybrid, although it will be part of the model's mid-cycle update. The hybrid 911 is believed to use a 48-volt starting motor with its dual-clutch transmission, with an electric motor powering the front wheels, resulting in an all-wheel drive powertrain. The motor is supposed to be powered by a compact lithium-ion battery pack hidden under the front seats.
The new 400V technology is said to produce its own energy reserves by employing the engine as a generator, similar to a range-extender powertrain, and through braking regeneration, eliminating the need for external charging.
Meanwhile, the revised 911 (992.2) has been spotted with a new front fascia with louvred intakes, as well as redesigned headlights and taillights. The indicators too seem to be incorporated into updated headlamp assemblies with a new visual style.
Porsche also plans to utilize more ecologically friendly materials in its forthcoming vehicles, such as the inside of the all-electric Macan. The new Macan is being produced in Leipzig at a net carbon-neutral rate.
