New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Powertrain & mileage

Suzuki introduced the new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated Z12E petrol engine with the new-gen Swift in the global markets. According to a leaked document, the same engine is said to be offered in the Indian market. This motor produces 82PS and 108Nm of torque. It is likely to be mated to a five-speed manual and a new automatic transmission. More importantly, the new Swift will give out a fuel economy of 25.72kmpl, which will be a considerable increase over the outgoing model.

2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift: Design & Interior

The new Japan-spec Swift is 3,860mm long, 1,735mm wide, and 1,495mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,450mm. We expect the India-spec model should carry over dimensions similar to the model offered in other markets. That said, the Swift is very well to keep the same design language as the car sold in Japan except a different front and rear bumpers and new alloy wheels.

Inside, the new cabin design could also be borrowed from the Japan-spec model. Additionally, there is likely to be a nine-inch floating-style touchscreen infotainment system, an analogue instrument cluster with an MID, leatherette seat covers, wireless charging pad, SmartPlay Pro+ with Suzuki connect, cruise control, hill hold assist, six airbags, ESP, TPMS, and basic telematics.

New Suzuki Swift: Price

The upcoming Maruti Swift is likely to be priced between Rs 6-6.40 lakh and go up to Rs 10.50 lakh. Upon launch, it will compete against likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.

In other news, the new Suzuki Swift has secured a four-star safety rating from the Japan NCAP crash test, scoring 177.80 out of 197 points. The Japanese NCAP evaluates various safety aspects of cars. This not only includes full-frontal collision, offset barrier test, side collision tests, and pedestrian head and leg protection, but also neck injury protection from rear-end collisions, headlight tests, pedal misapplication tests, and autonomous system tests.
