Updated Kia EV6 teased ahead of global debut in 2024
The Kia EV6 debuted in 2022 with an extremely eye-catching look, a spacious interior, and class-leading charging. The car is now set to receive a fresh update with several design changes as revealed through the teaser images as well as added features and possibly a larger battery pack to enhance its driving range.
Kia has only teased the front and back lights. A new DRL signature now appears to wrap around the main beam elements, which are lower than on the current vehicle, while the middle section of the front fascia now extends into the headlamp area, which the DRLs now wrap around. The taillight is still a single piece that sweeps up and over the tailgate, but it has a new LED graphic that ends in a triangle.
While no photographs have been provided, we expect Kia will also change the interior, maybe with a new screen arrangement and redesigned controls on the centre console.
Kia is scheduled to release the revised EV6 with a new 84kWh battery pack, which debuted with the updated Ioniq 5 a few months ago. This should increase the range by a couple of kilometres, but we don't expect much difference in performance throughout the trim range.
Its E-GMP platform has a multi-charging system that allows 400-volt and 800-volt DC rapid charging, as well as up to 350 kW of DC input via its CCS2 connection, allowing the battery to be charged from 10-80 percent in 18 minutes.
Speaking specifics of the drivetrains, the Kia EV6 in its single-motor layout produces 229PS/350Nm torque, while the dual-motor AWD model produces 325PS/605Nm torque.
The Kia EV6 facelift will debut in South Korea first and should come to India in the latter half of 2024. Currently, the Kia EV6 is priced at Rs 60.97 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
