I had the chance to test the KYT NZ-RACE helmet during my recent sessions at the California Superbike School, and it's safe to say, that this helmet stands as a pinnacle of track performance. Crafted meticulously by KYT Helmets India, the NZ-RACE is engineered to elevate your track experience to new heights.

Aerodynamics and Design:

Derived from KYT's extensive racing expertise, the NZ-RACE boasts a tri-composite material construction, meticulously sculpted using fluid dynamic software and wind tunnel testing. The result? A sleek, aerodynamic silhouette that slices through the air with precision. I really liked how it looks from the side angle. The carefully designed spoiler not only enhances aerodynamics but also contributes to overall comfort, making extended track sessions a breeze.

Ventilation System:

One of the standout features of the NZ-RACE is its unparalleled ventilation system. Engineered with three front air intakes and special channels on the EPS, this helmet ensures a continuous flow of fresh air, keeping you cool and focused even during the most intense sessions. The rapid exhaust of hot air through the back extractors further enhances comfort, allowing you to maintain peak performance throughout the ride. We will discuss this in the later part of the review towards the end.

Comfort and Inners:

The NZ-RACE prioritizes rider comfort without compromise. Removable and washable inners crafted from fine, soft fabrics ensure optimal airflow, keeping the part in contact with your face dry and fresh. The cheek pads are not only Bluetooth headphone-ready but also feature an emergency removal system for added safety. Plus, the "glasses wearable" predisposition caters to riders with eyewear needs, enhancing overall convenience.

Retention System:

Equipped with the reliable Double D-RING retention system in light alloy, the NZ-RACE ensures a secure and personalized fit, giving riders peace of mind on the track. also well suited for scrutiny and passing security checks before getting onto the track.

Vision and Weight:

The NZ-RACE excels in providing riders with an unparalleled field of vision. With an optical class 1 visor offering a wide peripheral and vertical field of vision, coupled with anti-scratch treatment and Pinlock Max Vision 70 anti-fog lens, clarity is never compromised as per the manufacturer. Additionally, weighing approximately 1400 grams, the NZ-RACE strikes the perfect balance between protection and agility, allowing for effortless manoeuvrability on the track. I felt it was super light.

Final Thoughts:

While the NZ-RACE delivers exceptional performance and comfort, riders transitioning from Arai helmets may notice a difference in wind noise. However, with the use of earplugs, this issue can be easily mitigated. Additionally, the absence of a darker visor may limit usage during harsh light conditions, but this minor inconvenience pales in comparison to the overall excellence of the NZ-RACE. Especially as an ARAI user, I felt the vision was better here, 270degree horizontal and 90-degree vertical was a boon when riding in a tucked-in position on the track. It opened a whole new perspective for me while riding. In conclusion, the KYT NZ-RACE helmet sets a new standard for track-focused headgear that too in a budget. From its advanced aerodynamics to superior ventilation and comfort features, this helmet is a testament to KYT's commitment to excellence. Whether you're a professional racer or a track enthusiast seeking peak performance, the NZ-RACE is your ultimate companion on the road to victory. It retails at Rs 34,000/- available through the KYT India website and a vast list of dealer networks across India.
