Volkswagen will give two of its creations a 'stage' at the upcoming 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show. The e-up! and the e-Golf will be the two efficient electric cars that the carmaker will showcase at the International Motor Show (IAA).

The e-Golf gets its power from an electric motor that dishes 115PS and a drive torque of 270Nm. The front-wheel drive e-Golf does a 0-100 in 10.4 seconds while topping out at an electronically limited 140kmph. The e-up! gets an 82PS motor that makes good for 210 Nm of torque. It is also a front-wheel drive. The dash to 100 is achieved in 12.4 seconds, while top speed is 130kmph.

The e-up! consumes 11.7 kWh of electricity for 100 km and the e-Golf uses 12.7 kWh. The e-up! can cover 160km on a single charge (18.7 kWh), while the e-Golf, owing to its larger battery (24.2 kWh), covers 190km. There are two driving modes in both cars, Eco and Eco+. D1, D2, D3 and B are the four modes of regenerative braking.

Automatic climate control with parking heater and ventilation, radio-navigation system, windscreen heating and LED daytime running lights are all standard equipment. The e-Golf gets Volkswagen's first use of LED headlights.

"The fact is that the target group for electric cars is growing, because a paradigm shift has begun. Sustainable mobility is having an increasing impact on people's actions. Yet the products for implementing this environmental awareness must be practical and fun as well, such as the e-up! and e-Golf which accelerate to big city pace in just a few seconds" said a company statement.
