Later this year, Tata Motors will launch an all-new model, the Tata Curvv that will slot in between the Nexon and Harrier. The new SUV will be available in both all-electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) models, with the former set to be the first of the two to break cover. The carmaker has now filed a design trademark for the Curvv giving us the first hint as to what the Curvv will look like.

The patent pictures reveal that the Curvv SUV's final design will be very identical to the concept displayed at last year's Auto Expo. The Tata Curvv appears to share its fascia with the Harrier and Safari, with only a little difference in LED DRL signatures. The SUV will have flush door handles, as seen not just on the concept but also on different test mules. The back part is not visible, but from the test mules we've seen, there will be a linked LED tail light design and a strong rear bumper, which imitate the front LED signature and front bumper, respectively.

The electric version of the Curvv SUV will utilise the new Generation 2 EV architecture that we saw on the Punch EV. This platform has been created to support several body styles and powertrain alternatives. The production version of the Tata Electric Concept Curvv will have a certified range of between 400 to 500 km.

Tata Motors had announced that the Curvv will be powered by the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine introduced at the Auto Expo. Even though there is no confirmation, the powerplant is believed to be paired with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The Curvv's interior from images, has a well-organized dashboard appropriate for a concept car. The production model may not feature ruthless simplicity, but the floating touchscreen, free-standing digital driver's display, 2-spoke steering wheel and most of the bits from the updated Harrier are expected to be carried over.

Production for the Tata Cruvv is expected to start in the coming months with the launch date for the EV set somewhere in the middle of 2024, while the ICE car will debut somewhere towards the climax of this year.
