Tata Punch EV to be launched on January 17
The Tata Punch EV was just launched, and the automaker has stated that it will go on sale on January 17. Pre-orders for the new battery-powered crossover have already begun at a low cost of Rs 20,000. Several test mules of the all-electric mini SUV have been sighted in recent months. This will be Tata's fourth all-electric vehicle and the first to be powered by Tata's new Gen 2 EV architecture, acti.ev. You read more about acti.ev here.
Tata Punch EV: Exterior
The Punch EV has a new look with a closed-off grille and full-width LED DRLs, while the LED headlights are housed in triangular housings. The EV charging connection is located on the nose. Moving to the back, the new skid plate completes the entire redesign.
The Punch EV is available in Empowered Oxide White, Seaweed Green, Fearless Red, Daytona Grey, and Pristine White. All of these colours have a black roof finish. Oxide White is only available on the top-spec Empowered variation, while the base-spec Smart is only available in Pristine White.
Tata Punch EV: Powertrain
Tata Motors has yet to formally confirm the Punch EV's motor specifications, but it is known that it will be available with two battery options: standard and long range. As a result, we anticipate that the two battery packs will be between 25 and 35 kWh. It may have a range of 350-375km with this.
The standard range version will only come with a 3.3kW AC charger, whilst the long range version will come with a 7.2kW AC charger. It can also support up to 150kW of DC rapid charging.
Tata Punch EV: Features
Tata has yet to provide a comprehensive look at the Punch EVs inside. It will have a new 10.25-inch touchscreen and digital instrument cluster, a redesigned two-spoke steering wheel, and a rotary drive selector on the centre console. A teaser graphic on Tata's website also reveals an all-new HVAC control panel, similar to the Nexon EV, with toggle switches and haptic buttons. A 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, an automatic parking brake with auto hold, and a blind view monitor are among the new features of the Punch EV.
The Tata Punch EV will rival the Citroen eC3 and is expected to be priced from Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
