Tata Motors, India's major electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, recently rebranded its EV subsidiary as Tata.ev. Amid booming electric vehicle market and competition in the EV space, the brand now plans to establish exclusive EV dealerships across in India under its new Tata.ev brand. Not only that, Tata is also trying to penetrate the new international market, however, the details about the exports destinations in the question are not available at the moment.

Tata Motors Exclusive EV Dealerships

As a part of its strategy, Tata initially plans to set up a handful of EV-exclusive dealerships in India with the new brand identity of its EV arm - Tata.ev. Establishing a new EV showroom network is not the only plan in the pipeline for the EV maker. In fact, in order to create its own electric vehicle supply chain, Tata Group has already signed a deal with the Government of Gujarat to build a lithium-ion cell plant with an investment of $1.6 billion (Rs 13,000 crore). This plant is likely to have an initial production capacity of 20 gigawatt hours (GWh), which could be doubled in the next phase of expansion. The carmaker already has a facility in Sanand. Not to mention, it has taken over the adjacent Ford Motors plant. The integrated process of the two facilities is already underway.

Further, Tata also intends to commence exports, possibly including electric vehicles, as it is said to be in a process of finalising its international business strategy. While the export locations are yet to be revealed, we expect the automaker to target key markets, such as the Asia-Pacific region, Africa, Latin America, and Middle East, among others.

Tata Motors EV line-up

Along with the new brand identity, Tata recently launched the 2023 Nexon EV facelift with a slightly increased range, tweaked electric powertrain, additional features, and a fresh look inside and out. The Long-range version of the electric SUV now boasts a claimed range of 465km on a full charge. This mid-cycle facelift has also brought several new features to the 2023 Nexon EV facelift, such as telematics, updated connected car tech, a 12.3-inch infotainment system with OTT app support, 360deg camera, and more.

Apart from the refreshed Nexon EV, the brand sells the Tiago EV and Tigor EV in the market. Its EV line-up is likely to expand soon with the Punch EV, followed by the other electrified offerings in the coming years.
