Tata Motors introduce new petrol powertrains at Auto Expo 2023
Tata Motors had a huge spread to show off at the Auto Expo 2023 which included EVs, ICE vehicles and even CNG vehicles. Tata Motors displayed 2 new powerplants, a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre T-GDi petrol engine.
Both the upcoming, strict BS6 emissions regulations and E20 compliance are met by these engines. In other words, they can run on a flex-fuel mixture of gasoline and 20 percent ethanol. Another thing to bear in mind is that both engines are made of lightweight aluminium, allowing for greater refinement, improved fuel efficiency, and reduced emissions. According to Tata, parts like the timing chain and valvetrain have been created to ultimately reduce the cost of vehicle maintenance.
The 1.2-litre three-cylinder T-GDi engine can generate a peak torque of 225Nm and about 125PS. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder T-GDi engine is predicted to have a power output of 170PS and torque of 280 Nm.
Given that the second phase of the more severe BS6 emission rules is due to begin in April, we anticipate Tata Motors to introduce these powertrains in its vehicles soon. The 1.2-litre engine was included in the ICE-powered Curvv on show at Auto Expo 2023, however, it is currently uncertain which cars will use this engine.
