The Tata Nexon has just received its much-awaited facelift and has renewed its rivalry in one of India's favourite segments. The Nexon was already a very famous vehicle in this segment but did receive a lot of competition from the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the Hyundai Venue. This segment also has other vehicles like the Hyundai Sonet and Mahindra XUV300, so all in all, it could be a very difficult thing trying to pick the perfect vehicle for you. Let's take a closer look and help you pick the one for you. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom.

The updated Tata Nexon has now ditched its very confusing variant list and now has moved to a much easier variant naming system. The base Nexon Smart 1.2 Revotron Petrol with a 5-speed manual will set you back Rs 8.10 lakh. A top-end Tata Nexon Fearless PR Plus S 1.5 Revotorq Diesel 6-speed AMT will cost you Rs 15.50 lakh.

Powering the Nexon facelift is a 1.2-litre, inline three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 120PS and 170Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre inline four-cylinder turbocharged diesel unit that generates 115PS and 260Nm of torque.

Along with a six-speed manual and an AMT, the petrol motor now can be mated to a new seven-speed DCT unit with shift-by-wire technology. Whereas, the diesel engine continues with the option of a six-speed manual or an AMT.

The Hyundai Venue E 1.2 Petrol starts from Rs 7.77 lakh and a top-of-the-line SX(O) MT 1.5 Diesel Dual Tone will set you back Rs 13.33 lakh.

Powering the Venue is a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine with 83PS and 114Nm of torque and there's also a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol unit with 120PS and 172Nm of torque, as well as a 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder, turbo-diesel motor with 116PS and 250Nm.

The 1.2-litre engine comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, whereas the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor gets a new six-speed manual gearbox and a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission. The diesel motor is coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox. The Venue N Line also carries the 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol unit with a new six-speed manual and seven-speed DCT units.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza in its base LXi variant starts from Rs 8.29 lakh and a top-end ZXi Plus AT Dual-Tone is priced at Rs 14.14 lakh.

The Brezza is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre inline-four cylinder petrol producing 101PS and 137Nm of torque. It comes mated to a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, the Brezza CNG makes 88PS and 121.5Nm of torque. In the CNG version, the SUV is paired with only a five-speed manual.

The 1.2-litre engine comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, whereas the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor gets a new six-speed manual gearbox and a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission. The diesel motor is coupled to a six-speed automatic or the newly introduced six-speed iMT gearbox.

The Mahindra XUV300 range starts at Rs 7.99 lakh with the W1.2 Petrol and a top of the line Turbosport W8(O) Dual Tone variant is priced at Rs 13.15 lakh.
