Porsche has unveiled a a more powerful and feature heavy grand tourer - the new Panamera Turbo S. The base version costs £131,000 (approx. Rs 1.30 crore, UK)  and will make its appearance at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. It has already gone on sale in the UK and deliveries will begin come January 2014.

Its top end Executive edition, with an wheelbase expanded by 15cm for enhanced space and comfort, will also be available at £167,700 (approx. Rs 1.65 crore, UK). The rear passengers in the Executive trim get single seats with extra 12cm of space in the footwell.

The four-door Turbo S comes with an upgraded twin-turbocharged V8 engine that, at 570PS, generates  50PS more than the Panamera Turbo. This has been achieved by adding two new turbochargers with large compressors to the Turbo S. These permit more air to be injected into the combustion chambers at high loads and engine speeds.  Also the injection pressure is raised by 20 bar, from 120 bar. The resultant weight gain has been negated by use of a new aluminium alloy and special piston rings.

As a result, torque increases by 50Nm to 750Nm between 2,250 and 5,000 rpm, with the overboost increasing it further to 800Nm. The Turbo S claims a fuel economy of 9.8kmpl and CO2 emissions of 239g/km.

There is also a Sports Chrono package that allows drivetrain and chassis configuration at the touch of a button, and an optional sports exhaust system that takes the thump of the V8 a notch higher.

Exterior touches include a restyled front fascia, new LED headlights, bigger rear window, new rear bumper and a spoiler.
