Orxa Mantis electric motorcycle launched in India at Rs 3.60 lakh

Orxa Energies finally launched the new Mantis electric motorcycle in India today at Rs 3.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Bangalore). However, the catch is the electric two-wheeler will initially be available in Bangalore and the company will expand its operation to other cities in a phased-manner. That said, Orxa also opened the bookings for the EV at exclusive Rs 10,000 for the first 1,000 customers. The booking amount will be Rs 25,000 thereafter. Customer deliveries are expected to commence in April next year. Since the Mantis electric motorcycle supports fast charging, Orxa is planning to install over 100 fast chargers along the key highways across India.

Orxa Mantis: Highlights

The Mantis is a sporty street naked motorcycle, featuring an aggressive face with dual-projector lights (reminiscent of the old KTM RC 200 and RC 390), angular panels with sharp cuts and creases, a unique tank design with an integrated charging port, narrow tail section, and split-seat arrangement. Above all, it gets an aerospace-grade aluminium alloy chassis. Meanwhile, Orxa offers the Mantis in two colour options: Urban Black and Jungle Grey.

Orxa Mantis: Features and Specifications

The Mantis comes with ride-by-wire, a fully digital cluster, a 320mm front disc, a 230mm rear disc, conventional telescopic front forks, and a rear monoshock. It weighs 182kg and ground clearance stands at 180mm. The company will also offer optional saddle stays and top-box rack to fit the panniers and a top box.

Orxa Mantis: Powertrain

Powering the Mantis EV is an 8.9kWh battery pack with an electric motor that makes 20.5kW and 93Nm of peak torque. With this, it can go from zero to 100kmph in 8.9 seconds and provides a top speed of 135kmph. It has an IDC range of 221km. Moreover, a standard 1.3kW charger can charge it from zero to 80 per cent in five hours, whereas the Blitz 3.3kW fast charger takes a claimed 2.5 hours.
