MG4 EV unveiled with a range of over 400km
The first official photographs of MG's future MG4 electric crossover have been made public. Later this year, in September, it will be introduced in international markets after going on sale in the UK first.
The new MG4 EV was unveiled on the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) design, which will also be adopted by a number of MG's upcoming electric vehicles. The new platform can accommodate a wide range of wheelbases, from 2650 mm to 3100 mm, therefore it may eventually be used in a variety of MG vehicles. Additionally, this platform might be utilized for battery packs ranging in size from 40 kWh to 150 kWh.
The new crossover receives a rather new and contemporary look. Surprisingly, it doesn't appear to be an MG from the outside. It has an interesting front design that lacks a grille up front. The MG logo is in the middle of its nose, flanked by two slender, extending LED headlights. A glass top, full-width LED tail lights, a skid plate on the rear bumper, and aerodynamic alloy wheels are a few further outward features that stand out.
According to MG, the new EV will initially have a single engine with rear-wheel drive and an option of 167PS or 201PS. However, a more potent 443PS dual-motor four-wheel-drive variant will also be made available at a later time. According to reports, this performance model can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds and will have a peak speed cap of 160 kmph.
The 167PS basic model will have a battery capacity of 51 kWh, while the 201PS and 443PS trims will have a battery capacity of 64 kWh. According to MG, the electric crossover's WLTP range will be between 350 km to 452 km.
