MG Motor India has announced a cooperation with BatX Energies, a greenfield firm launched in 2020 to build India's first off-grid solar-EV charging station using reused MG EV batteries.

BatX Energies supported by Delhi Research Implementation and Innovation created a second-life battery storage system in collaboration with MG to repurpose spent MG EV batteries. The device, which is now in the industrialization phase, is a solar EV charging station that functions off-grid and will be utilized to power 2-wheelers as well as 4-wheelers.

This will lessen dependency on traditional energy sources and the carbon emissions connected with typical EV charging techniques. This program, according to the partners, is another effort by MG Motor India and BatX Energies to promote a circular and sustainable economy.

MG Motor India claims that in addition to its products and customer programs, it has built a strong EV environment with its 6-way charging infrastructure and deployed over 15,000 charging touchpoints nationally, including public and private chargers.

According to Gaurav Gupta, Deputy Managing Director, MG Motor India, "At MG Motor India, we are committed to driving innovation and sustainability in all the domains of our operations. We also take pride in taking the lead to create a robust EV Ecosystem in India with our partners. We also believe that by championing the principles of the circular economy and harnessing the potential of repurposing used batteries to create a positive impact on the environment. And this collaboration with BatX Energies aligns with our vision to create a greener future for the society."
