Mercedes-Benz India has announced it will launch the Mercedes -EQ EQB in India by the fourth quarter of 2022, after the festive season. This will follow the recently launched AMG EQS 53 and the standard EQS launching on September 21 to complete the luxury brand's three planned EV launched for 2022.

Mercedes-Benz India EV strategy

Mercedes-Benz India has stated that it expects to see 25 per cent of its sales to come from electric vehicles by 2025. While the AMG is a halo model of sorts, the company expects the EQS to do more numbers. But a chuck of these sales will come from EV offerings in the lower reaches of the luxury segment with cars like the EQB.

This should also mean that we should see models like the EQE as well as the electric EQG in the country as when they become available. Mercedes-Benz will have 15 Ev models on sale globally by this timeframe and the Indian outpost says that all of these models will be evaluated to see if make business sense for India. With local assembly of EVs beginning with the EQS, many of these models should be assembled here too.

Mercedes EQB range, battery, performance

The Mercedes-EQ EQB is slated to come to India in its EQB 300 4Matic guise. This version comes in a dual motor set-up and puts out 228PS and 390 Nm. Powering this is a battery with 66.5 kWh of usable capacity which gives this version of the EQB a range of about 411 km as per the NEDC cycle. The SUV can charge at up to 22 KW AC current and takes 1 hour to charge from 0 to 80 per cent via a 50kW DC fast charger. Know all about the Mercedes EQB in our first-drive review.
