Mercedes-Benz GLB and EQB to make Indian debut on December 2; here's what to expect
Mercedes-Benz India has finally confirmed that the Mercedes EQB will make its debut alongside the Mercedes-Benz GLB on December 2. Here's what you should expect from these upcoming vehicles.
The Mercedes-EQ EQB is slated to come to India in its EQB 300 4Matic guise. This version comes in a dual motor set-up and puts out 228PS and 390 Nm. Powering this is a battery with 66.5 kWh of usable capacity which gives this version of the EQB a range of about 411 km as per the NEDC cycle. The SUV can charge at up to 22 KW AC current and takes 1 hour to charge from 0 to 80 per cent via a 50kW DC fast charger.
On the inside, the Mercedes-Benz EQB's dash is largely a carryover from the GLB. So you get the same free-standing twin 10.25-inch display and the turbine-style vents with the slim aluminium switchgear. Added to the EQB is a backlit trim piece on the passenger side with spiral detailing, and rose-gold vent highlights while the MBUX instrumentation features unique Mercedes-EQ graphics. The third row can accommodate children or adults of up to 5' 4" in height. The wheelbase is 2,829mm.
The GLB will be offered in three different versions in India: the base GLB 200, the mid-range GLB 220d, and the top-of-the-line GLB 220d 4Matic. The GLB 200 petrol will have a 1.3-litre turbocharged gasoline engine with 165PS and a 7-speed automatic gearbox, while the GLB 220d siblings will have a 2.0-litre engine with 190PS and an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The GLB 200 will be available with a single Progressive Line exterior package that includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a twin slat grille, a fake skid plate, and external chrome trim. The AMG Line kit, which includes a sharper-looking bumper, a single-slat AMG-themed grille, and 19-inch AMG five-spoke alloy wheels, will be offered with the GLB 220d.
Both variants include a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a touchscreen that is situated in the centre of the interior. There will be three interiors and five exterior colour options available for the GLB SUV in India.
