Maruti Suzuki eVX continues testing on Indian road. ADAS confirmed?

Maruti Suzuki debuted the eVX concept about a year ago at the 2023 Auto Expo, showcasing its first-ever electric SUV. The eVX is currently being tested on public roads ahead of its 2025 introduction. The eVX is being developed in collaboration with Toyota (that will have its own version) and will be manufactured at Maruti's Gujarat factory before being distributed in a number of countries.

There seems to be a big difference between the concept car and what the production unit will look like. The concept's slim LED headlights appear to have been replaced by a more traditional design on the front fascia. The concept grill is closed off, while the production model grill is much more open. Even the door handles appear pretty conventional in comparison to the concept's smart door handles. The turn signals are merged with the ORVMs, and the new alloy wheels aren't as exciting as we imagined.

This electric SUV will be around the same size as the Grand Vitara. While technical specifics are yet unknown, the concept included a 60 kWh battery pack with an estimated claimed range of 550 km. It will also have two motors, allowing it to be all-wheel drive.

The five-seater midsize electric SUV will enter a category that will witness heightened competition in the coming two years. The eVX will compete against the upcoming Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and Mahindra XUV.e8.

From what we saw at the Japanese Mobility Show, the Suzuki eVX will have a modern interior design that includes a dual-integrated display system similar to Mercedes' approach for both driver information and infotainment. The dashboard features four vertical slats that mimic the look of vertically oriented AC vents, while the centre panel is simple in design, with touch controls for crucial functions.

What makes this interior unique is that, while many of the pieces appear futuristic, such as the steering wheel, the design of the individual parts on the window and ORVM switches, and the font on the entertainment system. The design concept also includes a rotary knob in the bottom centre console that looks to operate as a drive selector.
