Mahindra Scorpio N pick-up will make global debut on August 15

Mahindra has announced that it will unveil a new pickup on Indian Independence Day, maintaining its tradition of unveiling new vehicles on August 15 each year. The new truck, codenamed Z121, will be built on the Scorpio N platform but will have a wider wheelbase to enable a larger load bed. This year's event will be place in South Africa and will showcase more ideas from Mahindra.

The teaser shows the unknown pickup vehicle's front grille and back profile, implying its connection to the Scorpio-N. The grille design incorporates Mahindra's twin-peaks insignia, while rear profile shots highlight the aesthetic highlights of the LED tail lamps and deck lid. The teaser also shows the alloy wheel style and the thick tyres that would be used.

In comparison, the Scorpio Classic pickup vehicle, known as the Getaway in India and the Pik Up in South Africa and Australia, has a wheelbase that is slightly longer than 3 metres. Prior to the debut of the Scorpio Classic, the previous generation Mahindra Scorpio Getaway was still available in the Indian market.

Expect single- and double-cab body variants on the production version, which is expected to arrive in early 2025. The powertrain options in this new pickup will be shared with the Scorpio-N, including a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. 2WD and 4WD are both expected to be available.

However, it is uncertain if the new Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck will replace or supplement the present Scorpio pickup. As the launch date approaches, the firm will provide more comprehensive details.

Mahindra was also recently granted legal permission to resell the newly modified Roxor in the United States. The firm was involved in a legal struggle with Jeep over the design of the Roxor, which Jeep claims infringes on its trademark. Read more about it here.
