Mahindra Scorpio N gets 5 new variants added to its portfolio
Mahindra has added the Z2 E and Z4 E variants to the Scorpio N's variant roster. With the addition of 5 additional variations, the Mahindra Scorpio N currently has 30 variant options available.
The SUV now comes in five new variations: Z2 MT Petrol MT E, Z2 MT Diesel MT E, Z4 MT Petrol MT E, and Z4 MT Diesel MT E 4WD.
Mahindra Scorpio N new variants:
Scorpio-N Z2 Petrol MT E: Rs 12.49 lakh
Scorpio-N Z2 Diesel MT E: Rs 12.99 lakh
Scorpio-N Z4 Petrol MT E: Rs 13.99 lakh
Scorpio-N Z4 Diesel MT E: Rs 14.49 lakh
Scorpio-N Z4 Diesel MT 4WD E: Rs 16.94 lakh
The Mahindra Scorpio-N Z2 and Z4 E versions have hill-hold assist and ESC as standard equipment in comparison to the base model. These features were previously only offered in the automatic trims of the Z4 range, however, they are new to the Z2 range.
Lower-end trims of the Mahindra Scorpio N are now Rs 50,000 more expensive than they were previously, even with the whole basic safety gear. Scorpio N Z2 and Z4 models are still available for Rs. 11.99 lakh and Rs. 13.49 lakh without the safety kit. These safety measures are still available for the same price on the Z4 automatic, Z6, Z8, and top-tier Z8 L models.
Since the Scorpio N's introduction, Mahindra has concentrated on providing higher-end models; only lately has it started providing the mid-level Z4 trim. Mahindra has been aiming to shorten the wait time for its SUV, but the top-spec Z8L Scorpio N may now be ordered in four months, as opposed to the previous 17 months.
The diesel engine option in the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N is the 2.2-litre mHawk unit. This motor is available in two states of tune with lower-spec Z2 variant putting out 132PS and 300 Nm, being offered with a six-speed manual and rear-wheel-drive only. The top-spec variants of the Mahindra Scorpio-N will get this diesel in a higher 175PS tune with torque outputs increasing to 370 Nm when paired with the manual and 400 Nm with the six-speed automatic. The Scorpio-N also gets a five-link rear suspension as well as frequency-selective dampers.
The petrol engine seems to be a straight lift from the one in the Mahindra XUV700. The 2.0-litre motor puts out 200PS and 370 Nm with the six-speed manual and 380 Nm with the automatic.
