Since pre-launch bookings began in May, Hyundai India has received over 50,000 bookings for the Exter SUV. The vehicle debuted in India on July 10, 2023, with a starting price of Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). Notably, in July the company sold 7,000 units of the all-new Exter SUV.

The Korean automaker further stated that 75 percent of consumers chose the sunroof versions, which were offered in the top three tiers, while one-third chose the AMT model.

Hyundai Exter: Variants and Colours

The SUV is available in seven trim levels: EX, EX (O), S, S (O), SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect. The brand offers six single-tone shades and three dual-tone paint options with the Exter. The colour options include Fiery Red, Ranger Khaki, Cosmic Blue, Atlas White, Titan Grey, and Starry Night, including Ranger Khaki with Abyss Black, Cosmic Blue with Abyss Black and Atlas Black with Abyss Black.

Hyundai Exter: Interior and Features

On the inside, the dashboard layout, touchscreen infotainment system, and air con vents resembles the Grand i10 Nios and Aura. However, Hyundai offers three distinctive colour themes for the cabin, namely Light Sage, Silver, and Cosmic Blue. Further, it comes with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with in-built navigation, a digital instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch colour TFT MID, semi-leatherette upholstery with embroidered 'Exter' lettering, a wireless charging pad, USB Type-c ports, footwell lighting, and seven ambient sounds of nature.

Other features for the Exter's infotainment include software over-the-air updates, 90 embedded voice commands, 10 Indian and two international languages support, and Home to Car (H2C) voice commands in Hindi and English with Alexa. Also on offer is Hyundai's Bluelink with over 60 connected car features, comprising various services, such as safety and security, voice assistance, location-based functions, remote access, and vehicle diagnostics.

In terms of features, the Exter is equipped with a voice-assisted electric sunroof, cruise control, TPMS, a dual dash cam, a rearview camera with parking sensors, paddle shifters, metal paddles, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, among others. Hyundai has also given it a range of standard features across the board, such as six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management (VSM), ABS with EBD, all three points seat belts with reminders, hill start assist, burglar alarm, and so on.

Hyundai Exter: Powertrain

Powering the Exter is a 1.2-litre, inline four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine generating 83PS and 114Nm of torque. Mated to this motor is a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT transmission. Whereas, the CNG version produces 69PS and 95.2Nm of torque. However, it comes paired with only a five-speed manual gearbox. Above all, Hyundai claims that the Exter with an MT can return a fuel economy of 19.4kmpl, while the AMT unit gives out a mileage of 19.2kmpl. On the other hand, the fuel efficiency for the CNG version is claimed to be 27.1km/kg.
