Twenty lakh units have been produced by Honda in India so far, and the City sedan was the two millionth one to leave the Rajasthan factory of the Japanese automaker.

Importance of Auto Anniversaries

Following the closing of the brand's first Greater Noida factory in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, this is presently the lone location for the company. With the City sedan, which has been on sale in India for 25 years and is one of the long-running mass-market names in the nation, Honda began its voyage on Indian soil in December 1997.

The Rajasthan factory of the Japanese automaker has a 1.8 lakh unit production capacity annually. In addition to producing models specifically for India, it also creates vehicles for export, most notably the Honda City and Amaze, which are sold in 16 different countries across the world.

The fourth-generation City, the fifth-generation City, and the City Hybrid are three generations of the City that Honda now offers in India. The Jazz, Amaze, and WR-V are the final three models.

In 2023, Honda will also release an entirely new SUV that will compete with vehicles like the Creta, Seltos, Taigun, Kushaq, and Astor in the midsize SUV sector. Currently, all that is known about it is that it will be based on the Honda City platform. However, considering that its anticipated introduction date is Diwali 2023, expect information to start to emerge quickly.

Speaking on the occasion, Takuya Tsumura, President and CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd, said, "The historic milestone of 2 Million Production roll out in India is a testimony to Honda's commitment to the 'Make in India' initiative for the last 25 years. We express our sincere gratitude to all our customers, dealer partners and supplier partners for their confidence in us and making Honda a very loved and trusted brand in the country.
