Hero MotoCorp to sell EVs under new Vida sub-brand
HeroMotocorp has launched a sub-brand 'Vida' which will comprise all of its electric mobility solutions henceforth. In plain English, Vida is the umbrella under which HeroMotocorp will launch all of its upcoming EVs the first of which will be launched on July 1, this year.
Hero MotoCorp has launched Vida in the midst of a boardroom tussle to see who, from Hero Electric and sister company Hero MotoCorp gets to be the 'Hero' in the electric vehicles space.
The production of the new Vida model will take place at Hero MotoCorp's 'Green' manufacturing facility in Chittoor, India, with deliveries to customers beginning later on this year.
Hero MotoCorp Chairman & CEO, Dr. Pawan Munjal also announced a USD 100 Million Global Sustainability Fund, which he says will aim to establish global partnerships, spearheaded by the BML Munjal University (BMU) and Hero MotoCorp, with the objective of nurturing more than 10,000 entrepreneurs on ESG solutions. We've already seen HeroMotocorp back Bengaluru-based start-up Ather Energy and after this statement, wouldn't be surprised to see the company branch out and explore more viable options beyond investing in the EV space.
