During the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, Amazon and Hyundai Motor Company announced a significant strategic collaboration aiming to introduce novel experiences to their customers. The partnership incorporates various important initiatives, including the plan to launch of Amazon's online sales for Hyundai vehicles in the United States, starting in 2024.

This pioneering venture will allow authorised auto dealers to list vehicles on Amazon's U.S. platform for the first time, with Hyundai slated as the inaugural brand accessible for customers' online purchases. This innovative digital shopping avenue aims to streamline the process of acquiring a new car through Amazon.com, empowering buyers to select, purchase, and arrange pickup or delivery from their local dealership at their convenience. The platform will enable users to browse available vehicles within their vicinity based on model, features, trim, and colour preferences, with payment and financing options integrated seamlessly within the familiar Amazon ecosystem.

In parallel, Hyundai has designated Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred cloud provider, marking a pivotal step in the automaker's digital transformation strategy. This collaboration seeks to leverage AWS's diverse capabilities encompassing computing, storage, database, analytics, generative AI, and IoT. The migration of Hyundai's existing on-premises applications to AWS underpins a concerted effort to bolster the brand's data-driven approach across various sectors encompassing research, product engineering, and customer engagement. Hyundai's priority areas for AWS integration include optimising production efficiencies, enhancing security and resilience, and advancing connected vehicle development to introduce novel features for global drivers.

Moreover, Hyundai's upcoming generation of vehicles, set for release in 2025, will integrate Alexa Built-in, allowing drivers to access a hands-free Alexa experience akin to their smart home environment. This in-vehicle integration will enable users to interact with Alexa to manage music, podcasts, reminders, to-do lists, smart home devices, and receive real-time traffic and weather updates. Hyundai drivers will enjoy the convenience of controlling their smart homes remotely, adjusting home settings while on the road and accessing certain Alexa features, even with intermittent or no internet connectivity.

The comprehensive alliance between Amazon and Hyundai aims to revolutionise the automotive retail experience, paving the way for seamless online vehicle sales and integrating cutting-edge technological advancements into Hyundai's upcoming vehicle lineup.
