BYD Seal receives 200 bookings in India

BYD India has disclosed that its recently launched Seal EV has garnered 200 bookings. The prices for the electric sedan start at Rs 41 lakh (ex-showroom) and extend up to Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom). Notably, the brand is offering complimentary gifts for customers booking the Seal by March 31, 2024.

BYD Seal EV: Powertrain

The India-spec Seal EV offers two battery pack options: 61.44kWh and 82.56kWh. Additionally, there are three powertrain choices. The entry-level variant features the 61.44kWh unit paired with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) motor. The mid-spec trim comes with a larger battery pack with the same RWD motor. Then, the top-spec variant of the Seal EV boasts a dual-motor setup coupled with the 82.56kWh battery pack.

Further, the EV equipped with the larger battery pack can be charged from 30 to 80 percent in a claimed 26 minutes with a 150kW DC fast charger. The 61.44kWh unit supports up to 110kW charging, providing a range of up to 200km with just 15 minutes of charging. All powertrains are compatible with up to 7kW AC charging.

BYD Seal EV: Highlights

The India-spec Seal boasts a Thaumas all-black theme, featuring a crystal gear selector, electronically adjustable air-con vents, leather upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The entry-level variant comes with artificial leather upholstery. In addition, the interior is equipped with a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, sport seats, a 12-speaker sound system, a heads-up display, an eight-way electronically adjustable driver seat with a memory function, and four-way lumbar support. Other features include six-way power-adjustable co-passenger seat, dual-zone temperature control, ambient lighting, PM2.5 filter, two wireless charging pads, front seats ventilation and heating, wireless Android Auto, and wired Apple CarPlay.

The Seal comes with NFC card key, powered boot opening, powered ORVMs with memory and heating functions, a panoramic sunroof, TPMS, a 360-degree camera, traction control, hill start assist, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, vehicle-to-load (V2L), and four driving modes (Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow). Numerous Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features are also offered.

BYD Seal EV: Competitors

The Seal EV competes against the BMW i4 electric sedan (Rs 72.50-77.50 lakh), Kia EV6 (Rs 60.95-65.95 lakh), and Hyundai Ioniq 5 (Rs 46.05 lakh). All prices are ex-showroom.
