BMW has revealed images and details on the new BMW 2 Series coupe. The new 2 Series will now fill the void left behind by the outgoing 1 Series coupe and aligns BMW's entry level segment to their new brand philosophy of having only their driver centric coupes, grand coupes and cabriolet body style of cars being denoted by even series numbers. While sedans, estates and grand coupes body styles will fall under the odd numbered series. Yes it is a little confusing.

The three box design with low slung silhouette is what we have come to expect from BMW, while its flared wheel arches and smooth lines hint at the spirited handling that the 2 Series promises. Rear wheel drive, electronically locking differential, longitudinally mounted engines and a near perfect 50:50 weight distribution hint at a very exciting package. Ticking the M Sport package box will add light alloy wheels, larger brakes, stiffer adaptive suspension and a limited slip differential.
