BMW launches the new Z4 in India at Rs 68.9 lakh
BMW has launched the 2014 Z4 roadster in India at a price of Rs 68.9 lakh and Rs 69.9 lakh for the DPT edition, ex-showroom. DPT stands for Design Pure Traction and envelops the special orange shade and some other features. The launch took place today at Pune.
Like we had informed you before, the new Z4 remain primarily unchanged as compared to the outgoing one and you will be hard pressed to notice the changes. New additions to the car though include LED daytime running lights in the headlamps, redesigned front bumper, chromed slats in the front, new indicators and fresh 18inch alloy designs. The roof gets a contrasting colour. There are three body colours to choose from. The turn indicators are sort-of seated in the chrome details behind the front wheels.
The Z4 carries the typical roadster look with a snout-like extended front. The two-seat cabin is positioned close to the rear axle. Changes on the inside are mild too. There is an orange stripe running along the seats and some metallic/glossy detailing in the central console. The iDrive system now gets a folding display and the customer also gets a new audio system with a 14-speaker setup.
BMW is offering the Z4 with only one petrol engine option. The sDrive35i boasts of a twinturbo 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine which makes 306PS of power and 400Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic box which directs power to the rear wheels.
Philipp von Sahr, president,BMW Group India with the new Z4
BMW's lineup will soon be joined by the 3-Series GT. Back in October, the company had also spoken of spending around Rs for adding a new assembly line, and take the total capacity to 14,000 units a year. Philipp von Sahr, president of BMW Group India had said back then, "We will expand our product portfolio by launching a number of products which will include refresh models as well as new introduction. We will add two new products by the next year and also will launch Z4 Roadster in November this year."
The new Z4 takes on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz SLK and the Porsche Boxster.
