On July 25, the Gujarat high court has asked the state government to pass a law asking all cars registered in the state to be converted into CNG, within a year. Moreover, the court has also told the state government to impose restrictions to curb pollution by fixing emissions levels similar to international standards. The order will be applicable on both private-owned as also public vehicles sipping petrol/diesel.
The high court judges, Chief Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya and Justice J B Pardiwala also suggested that fuel prices be kept lower for public vehicles and higher for privateers. Additionally, the public transport fares are to be kept at reasonable rates so that the public can be benefitted.
