After introducing the facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLE to India in late 2023, the German automaker has now unveiled its sportier variant: the AMG GLE 53 Coupe. The car will only be offered in this AMG 53 variant and has a starting price of Rs 1.85 crore, but that's only before options.

2024 Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe: Powertrain

The AMG GLE 53 is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine combined with a 48V mild hybrid system. This powerplant produces 435PS and 520Nm of torque and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels using the brand's 4MATIC technology.

The addition of mild-hybrid technology provides an additional 22 PS and 200 Nm of torque for a few seconds when you drive the car hard. The 0-100kmph sprint time has been reduced by 0.3 seconds from its predecessor to 5 seconds and the top speed is limited to 250 kmph.

2024 Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe: Design and Interior

Except for a few minor differences, the GLE 53 Coupe facelift appears to be nearly identical to the pre-facelift model. For starters, the Panamericana grille with vertical chrome slats has been preserved. However, the headlights have been modified, and the bumper has been somewhat changed. The tail lights have a slightly different character, and the bumper has been redesigned to include quad exhaust outlets.

The German automaker has offered the AMG GLE 53 Coupe two interior theme options: Bahia Brown and Black and Macchiato Beige and Black. Other important interior modifications include the new AMG-specific steering wheel, which is also available in carbon fibre, as well as seat upholstery. The GLE 53 facelift features dual 12.3-inch digital displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multiple climate control zones, a 13-speaker Burmester sound system, powered front seats with heating and ventilation, a panoramic sunroof, and a wireless phone charger.

Multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system all ensure the safety of the passengers.

The AMG GLE 53 Coupe doesn't face any direct competition, but its closest competitors are the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, BMW X5, and Range Rover Sport in India. Mercedes Benz India has also showcased the updated GLA and Concept EQG at the same event. You can read more about that below.
