2017 Frankfurt Motor Show: Details on Europe-bound all-new Chery compact SUV
Automobile manufacturers all over the world are busy churning more and more SUVs for they seem to be more successful and in turn profitable. Joining the bandwagon is Chery, China's leading vehicle exporter which be at the International Motor Show in Germany. The automobile manufacturer has released an image of its all new compact SUV that will be shown at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The all-new compact SUV will be inspired by the Tiggo Coupe Concept
Based on the Tiggo Coupe Concept, the all new Chery compact SUV will be available with an option between hybrid electric, plug-in hybrid electric and all-electric powertrains. The company states that the battery can be fully charged in four hours using a 220V supply and will also have a quick charge function that will charge the battery to 80 per cent in 30 mins. The plug-in hybrid, according to Chery, will have a 0 to 100 kmph acceleration of 6 seconds and a maximum speed of close to 200 kmph. Chery states that the design of the all-new compact SUV will be based on the Life In Motion' design philosophy developed by Chief Designer, James Hope. The new design language will be targeted towards the young and the more premium clientele claims the company. While the images give an idea of the shape that the production model will take, it is still not clear if the compact SUV will be rivaling the likes of the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC or the most mass market compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster that we get in India.
The Chinese automobile manufacturer plans to start sales of passenger cars in Europe within the next few years. Chery, presently, is working on setting a European sales operation in co-operation with local import and distribution partners. This will be further supported by the international design and research and development facilities in Europe
