Yamaha organises Global Suppliers Conference 2015 In Japan
Yamaha Motor Company Ltd recently organised the Global Suppliers Conference in Japan. It was attended by Yamaha's suppliers from across the world including countries like India, China, Japan and Thailand. A total of 15 suppliers from India were invited to the conference to exhibit their technology to the senior management from YMC group companies across various countries.
Yamaha has been conducting the Global Suppliers Conference to help suppliers understand its vision and long term plans and to promote monozukuri (a Japanese concept involving the art of designing and producing technical objects) procurement among them. The conference is also a platform for suppliers to convey customers' expectations to Yamaha's R&D team.
Sanjiv Paul, manufacturing unit head, India Yamaha Motor, said, "This year our focus was to promote the Indian suppliers worldwide through this conference. It improves competitiveness among the suppliers and encourages them to develop materials and processes which are cost effective and best in quality, accuracy and design. Indian suppliers are not only able to showcase their technology and innovations on a global platform which is very good for improving motivation but they also get an opportunity to interact with Yamaha research and development and engineering teams from various Yamaha group companies. This collaboration and involvement at an early stage is helpful in creating a quality, delivery and cost structure which is robust and efficient."
During the conference, the suppliers were also awarded with Global Awards for Excellence and Quality, Excellence and Cost innovation and Technology and Development. The Spark Minda Group from India received the Global Award for Excellence and Cost Innovation.
Ashok Minda, chairman of the Spark Minda Group said, "The Global Supplier Conference is a good platform wherein we have been able to clearly see the Yamaha group's global vision and strategy and this will help us in aligning our company's direction with it. The factory tour which was arranged for us and the technology exhibition has given us a strong motivation to do such innovations at our end also.
