Bajaj NS400 picture leaked ahead of its launch
We recently got our hands on the picture of the new Bajaj Pulsar NS400. The picture of the upcoming 400cc Pulsar gives a glimpse of its front end and design. Notably, Bajaj is set to introduce the biggest-ever and most powerful Pulsar, the NS400, in India in May 2024.
New Bajaj Pulsar NS400: DesignAs seen in the picture, the fascia of the Pulsar NS400 draws its design inspiration from the new N250 and other new Pulsar models. It bears resemblance to the on-sale Pulsar line-up, especially the headlamp (a bi-directional projector headlight) unit and LED daytime running lights look similar to the N250 and NS200. However, being the biggest-ever Pulsar yet, the NS400 seems sportier and more muscular.

The picture also confirms that the new Pulsar NS400 will come with upside down front forks. Other features and hardware are likely to include a fully digital instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity, USB charging port, dual-channel ABS, a couple of riding modes, slip-and-assist clutch, traction control, single disc brake setup at both ends, and 17-inch wheels.
New Bajaj Pulsar NS400: Engine & power outputThe crux of the new Pulsar NS400 is expected to lie in its powertrain, which could be a new 398.63cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled LC4c engine that powers the new-gen KTM 390 Duke, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, and Triumph Speed 400/Scrambler 400X. However, it produces different power outputs in the Triumph twins. This new engine replaces the 373.27cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produced 43.5PS and 37Nm of torque. In the 390 Duke and Svartpilen 401, the 398.63cc unit delivers 46PS and 39Nm of torque, while the Triumph's Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X make 40PS and 37.5Nm.
New Bajaj Pulsar NS400: Price and competitionCompetitive pricing is crucial in the sub-500cc segment, where the NS400 is poised to make its mark. With an expected price range of Rs 2.10-2.60 lakh, it aims to rival offerings such as Triumph's Speed 400 priced at Rs 2.34 lakh (ex-showroom). Other contenders in the segment include the Dominar 400 (Rs 2.25 lakh), Svartpilen 401 (Rs 2.92 lakh), X440 (Rs 2.39-2.79 lakh), Mavrick 440 (Rs 1.99 lakh-2.24 lakh) and the 390 Duke (Rs 3.10 lakh).
