BMW M4 Competition M xDrive launched in India at Rs 1.53 crore

BMW India has launched the M4 Competition M xDrive in India at Rs 1.53 crore (ex-showroom). While the majority of the revisions are focused on small external and interior adjustments, the most exciting development is that the M4 Competition xDrive will gain extra power. The car will be available in the country as a CBU model and can be booked at a BMW dealership or through the BMW Online Shop.

BMW M4 Competition M xDrive: Powertrain

The BMW M4 Competition M xDrive is powered by the TwinPower Turbo S58 six-cylinder in-line petrol engine with 530PS, a bump of 20PS over the outgoing model. Torque figures continue to be rated at 650Nm. Power is put down through an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission

The updated M4 Competition xDrive coupe will still accelerate to 100 kmph in 3.5 seconds, just like the previous model. The top speed is limited to 250 kmph as usual, but the optional M Driver's Package raises it to 290 kmph. Both automatic and manual modes provide three peculiar setups: comfort-oriented, sports-focused, and track-optimized.

The Setup button on the center console gives you instant access to engine, chassis, steering, and brake system settings, as well as traction control. Efficient, Sport, and Sport Plus settings may be used to change the engine's characteristics, while the Comfort, Sport, or Sport Plus chassis mode allows access to the electronically controlled damper settings.

BMW M4 Competition M xDrive: Design and Interior

This new car is a slighly updated model of the curent-gen M4 Competition. The majority of the aesthetic improvements are updated LED headlights and taillights. There's also a new set of DRLs that are now more arrow-shaped and also double up as turn indicators, but apart from that, most of the car looks largely untouched.

Inside the new M4, the driver will discover a flat-bottom leather steering wheel with a red stripe, but an Alcantara microsuede steering wheel is also available. The M4 keeps its dual-screen infotainment and instrumentation displays, which measure 14.9 and 12.3 inches, respectively. The system now operates on BMW Operating System 8.5, rather than 8.0.

There is also a revamped instrument panel, new toggles for the dashboard HVAC vents, and more ambient lighting. Features include wireless charger, head-up display, smartphone integration and a 16 speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Options include the Driving Assistant Professional, Parking Assistant Plus with 360 Degree Camera, Steering and Lane Control Assistant, as well as the BMW Drive Recorder.

Safety features includes head and side airbags for driver and front passenger as well as head airbags for rear seats, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including ABS, Automatic Stability Control (ASC), M Dynamic Mode (MDM), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dry Braking function and Active M Differential.
