BMW i5 M60 xDrive launched in India at Rs 1.19 crore

BMW India had officially started accepting bookings for the BMW i5 M60 xDrive earlier in April and the car has now been launched in India at Rs 1.19 crore (ex-showroom). Since the car will come via the CBU route, there will be a very limited number of units that will be coming in and reservations may be made through the BMW dealership network and the BMW Online Shop.

BMW i5 M60 xDrive: Powertrain and Battery

The BMW i5 M60 includes an additional motor for the front wheels and the car produces a total of 601PS and 795Nm of torque. That's almost as powerful as the current BMW M5 Competition. This model accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 230 kmph.

There's an 81.2kWh battery pack onboard that can be charged up from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes using a 205 kW DC fast charger. On the WLTP cycle, the M60 xDrive version has a range of up to 516 km.

The i5 receives unique spring-travel-dependent dampening and self-levelling air suspension in the rear. Naturally, adjustable dampers may be specified, and active stabilisation is standard on the M60.

BMW i5 M60 xDrive: Exterior and Interior

The now-famous kidney grille is based on the old 'sharknose' BMWs, but the four LED headlights are placed in a more aggressively-shaped manner. The lower front is similar, with a duct diverting the wind away from the wheels to reduce turbulence. Since this i5 carries the 'M' badge, it comes with 20-inch M-specific wheels.

Inside, a large widescreen infotainment system with a 12.3-inch screen behind the steering wheel and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. The most recent version of iDrive with BMW's 8.5 OS is also included, as is the ability to play games on the screen. And, as with the 7 Series, a narrow touch-sensitive strip running beneath the instrument panel controls the ventilation and air conditioning.

The i5 M60 xDrive doesn't have any direct competitors in India as such but it will be punching slightly above its class with cars like the Mercedes Benz EQS, Porsche Taycan Audi e-tron GT all sitting well above the Rs 1.50 crore mark.
