Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun Sound Edition launched: All you need to know

Volkswagen introduced the Virtus and Taigun Sound Editions in India. The Virtus Sound Edition starts at Rs 15.52 lakh, while the Taigun starts at Rs 16.33 lakh. Both special edition models are based on their respective range-topping versions and receive no mechanical upgrades.

On the exterior, both the Taigun and Virtus have 'Sound' badging decals on the B- and C-pillars. The Taigun Sound Edition also has a contrasting white roof and ORVM caps as an option.

There are no additional external alterations, and this special edition is available in four colour options: Carbon Steel Grey, Lava Blue, Rising Blue, and Wild Cherry Red.

Both Sound Edition versions come with a new seven-speaker sound system that includes a subwoofer and an amplifier. We think it's the same 240W subwoofer that comes in the Skoda Slavia Matte Edition. The tweeters also have a 'Sound' badging to denote that this is the special edition model.

A 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto, an 8-inch digital driver's display, powered front seats with ventilation, a sunroof, and keyless entry with push button start/stop are among the other amenities.

Unlike the standard models, the Virtus and Taigun Sound Edition is available only with the 1.0-litre, inline three-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit that makes 115PS and 148Nm of torque. Coupled with this engine is a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, and Citroen C3 Aircross are among the Taigun's competitors. The Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, on the other hand, compete with the Virtus.
