Updated Land Rover Defender unveiled

Land Rover has refreshed its Defender lineup, introducing a more potent diesel engine, a luxurious seven-seater variant, and a plug-in hybrid powertrain. This update arrives four years after the launch of the L663-generation Defender and, while not a complete facelift, brings a range of significant mechanical and cosmetic enhancements, along with a restructuring of the trim options. Additionally, the British automaker has unveiled the new Defender 110 Sedona Edition, available for a limited one-year period.

What's new with the Land Rover Defender?

The Defender now boasts a substantial upgrade to its diesel lineup with the introduction of the new D350 engine globally, replacing the D300 engine. This engine delivers 351PS, marking a 50PS increase over its predecessor, and gains an additional 50Nm of torque, reaching a total of 700Nm. According to the brand, this enhancement makes the Defender more engaging than ever, offering greater flexibility and faster responses, resulting in effortless overtaking and towing.

Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid Defender sees the replacement of the P400e with the P300e powertrain, featuring a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, departing from the three-cylinder setup seen in the Discovery Sport and Evoque models.

Land Rover Defender: Sedona Edition & 130 captain seats

The Defender 130 now offers a new Signature Interior Pack and Captain Chairs Pack. The latter provides two captain seats in the middle row, complete with armrests on each side and winged headrests, separated by an aisle for easy access to the third row.

These seats are part of the newly introduced Signature Interior Pack, which includes a range of enhancements for increased luxury and attention to detail, such as tactile new material additions and convenient storage pockets for front-row passengers.

The Defender 110 Sedona, based on the X-Dynamic HSE trim, stands out with its special Sedona Red paint job paired with an Extended Black Pack, Narvik Black Defender script, front grille, and skid plates, complemented by 20-inch black alloy wheels and a body-colored spare wheel cover â€" a unique combination for this edition. Additionally, it offers optional bonnet decals depicting the topography of Sedona and a Sedona Red exterior side-mounted gear carrier. Inside, the Sedona Edition features Ebony Windsor Leather and Kvadrat seats for the first time.
