TVS commences pre-bookings for new Apache RTR 310

After introducing the sporty X electric scooter a couple of days ago, TVS has now set the stage to launch the long-awaited Apache RTR 310 in India on 6 September, 2023. The bike maker has already teased the streetfighter on multiple occasions. In fact, one of the latest teasers shows off coordinates of Democracy Monument in the city centre of Bangkok, Thailand. Given TVS unveiled the X electric scooter in Dubai, it might take the wraps off the new Apache RTR 310 in Thailand.

New TVS Apache RTR 310: Design

The recent teasers show the sporty and aggressive design language of the new Apache RTR 310. The streetfighter gets slim headlights reminiscent of the Ducati Streetfighter V4 and Kawasaki Z1000. One of the teasers has also revealed its compact side profile and a riding posture similar to a sports tourer rather than committed like the Apache RR 310 or KTM RC 390. Plus, there is a sculpted fuel tank with edgy tank shrouds, a small side-slung exhaust, split seat, engine cowls, and split LED taillights.

New TVS Apache RTR 310: Features and specifications

If spy shots are to go by, the RTR 310 is likely to get a new tablet-like instrument console instead of the vertical unit of the RR 310. It could come with Bluetooth connectivity, TVS SmartXonnect support, turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts, and a few track-oriented functions, such as a lap timer. Other features may include all-LED lighting, ride-by-wire, slip and assist clutch, multiple ride modes, dual-channel ABS, traction control, and adjustable brake and clutch levers, among others.

In terms of hardware, the teaser shows that the new Apache RTR 310 will boast upside down front forks and a rear mono-shock. The streetfighter may borrow the braking setup from its sibling, which comprises a 300mm single front disc brake and a 240mm single rear disc brake.

New TVS Apache RTR 310: Powertrain and power output

Since the RTR 310 is based on the on-sale RR 310, it is likely to feature the 312.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC motor producing 34PS at 9,700rpm and 27.3Nm of torque at 7,700rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.

New TVS Apache RTR 310: Prices and Rivals

The most interesting thing about the upcoming TVS Apache RTR 310 would be its price, which, if priced competitively, could make it a compelling offering in its segment. We expect the Apache RTR 310 to cost about Rs 2.40-2.80 lakh. In comparison, the Apache RR 310 comes with a price tag of Rs 2.72 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Upon launch, the new Apache RTR 310 will take on the Triumph Speed 400 (Rs 2.33 lakh, ex-showroom), BMW G 310 R (Rs 2.85 lakh, ex-showroom), and the KTM 390 Duke Rs. 2.97 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the all-new 2024 KTM 390 Duke has arrived and that is likely to hit the Indian market soon.
