Toyota Fortuner facelift international unveil expected on June 4
Toyota is expected to debut the mid-cycle upgrade for the popular Toyota Fortuner SUV on June 4. The current-gen Fortuner has been a big seller since its launch and recently was upgraded to bring it up to BSVI regulations.
Spy images have shown that the updated Fortuner now gets styling to suit Toyota's latest global design language. The fascia is now expected to get cleaner, sharper lines, with a slimmer top half for the grille. The headlamps are also expected to move to full LED units and have a slimmer look to them. The bumper should get a larger air-dam with deep cuts on the sides. The SUV is expected to remain largely unchanged in profile, aside from new alloy wheels. At the rear, expect a sharper set of full-LED taillamps and new bumpers.
No pictures are available of the interior, but a new infotainment, reworked instrument cluster and a redesigned layout can be expected. Internationally, there is talk of a more powerful iteration of the 2.8-litre diesel engine. However, for the Indian market, the powertrain options are expected to remain unchanged.
The Fortuner is available in India with a 2,755cc four-cylinder turbo-diesel motor which makes 177PS at 3,400 rpm and 42o Nm at 1,400 - 2,600 rpm with the six-speed manual. This increases to 450 Nm at 1,600 - 2,400 rpm with the automatic. The petrol engine is a 2,694 cc unit with 166PS at 5,200 rpm and  245 Nm at 4,000 rpm. This is paired with a five-speed manual and six-speed automatic.
Prices of the Toyota Fortuner start at Rs 28.18 lakh for the manual petrol 4x2. Expect the facelifted SUV to reach India by next year.
