Tata Tigor EV Ziptron to unveil in India on August 18

After having teased the Tata Tigor EV Ziptron a few times, Tata Motors is finally all set to unveil the Tigor EV Ziptron on August 18. The Ziptron is the long-range version of the 2021 Tigor EV and is expected to get a larger battery pack with Tata Motors' Ziptron electrical architecture which should offer more range and performance.

The teaser indicated that the design of the 2021 Tata Tigor EV would be much different to distinguish it from the piston-engined variant. A blanked-out grille, as well as a redesigned bumper with the L-shaped LED DRLS and foglamps, should be present. Aside from the bright blue accents seen on the Nexon EV, the remainder of the small is expected to remain unaltered.

The Tata Tigor EV is expected to receive a battery pack comparable to the Tata Nexon EV's, which uses Tata Motors' Ziptron EV technology. The Nexon EV's lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 30.2kWh and powers a permanent-magnet AC motor with 129 horsepower and 245 torque.

According to the ARAI, the Tigor Ziptron would go over 312 km on a single charge, with a real-world range of about 230 km. The Tigor EV Ziptron, just like the Nexon EV should reach 80 percent capacity in 60 minutes using a DC fast charger. The Nexon EV can also be charged using any regular power outlet, which takes eight hours to charge from 20% to 80%. The Tigor EV Ziptron should be able to match this charging time.

Before state-level subsidies, the Tata Tigor EV Ziptron should be the new range-topper once it goes on sale, with pricing around Rs 2 to 1.5 lakh more than the top Tata Tigor. The Tigor XZA Plus, which is driven by petrol, costs Rs 7.82 lakh.
