Spec comparison: Hyundai Alcazar vs Tata Safari vs MG Hector Plus

Hyundai has launched the Alcazar in the Indian market and although it sits below the Hector Plus and Safari, its pricing is in line with these SUVs. That being said, we have compared the specs of the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari. So find out how the new Hyundai three-row SUV fares on paper against its two closest rivals.

Hyundai Alcazar Vs MG Hector Plus Vs Tata Safari - Variants and Dimensions

Hyundai Alcazar is offered in three trim levels - Prestige, Platinum and Signature and all are offered with 6 & 7-seater options. MG offers the Hector Plus in Style, Smart, Super, Select and Sharp with both 6 & 7-seater options. Lastly, Tata Safari is offered with XE, XM, XT, XT Plus, XZ, XZ Plus and Adventure Persona edition with both 6 & 7-seater options. Hyundai Alcazar sports the segment-best wheelbase of 2760 mm while the Safari is the tallest & widest and the Hector Plus is the longest among the three SUVs.

Hyundai Alcazar Vs MG Hector Plus Vs Tata Safari - Engine Options

Hyundai Alcazar is offered with a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol motor that produces 159PS and 190 Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre diesel of the Alcazar produces 115PS and 250 Nm of torque. Both the engines come mated to 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. The Hector Plus gets a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine producing 143PS and 250 Nm torque and comes with a 6-speed manual, 6-speed DCT and CVT gearbox options.

MG Hector Plus also gets the 2.0-litre diesel engine that churns out 170PS and 350 Nm of torque, mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Tata Safari gets the same FCA-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine we get with the Hector Plus and it also produces the same power and torque. However, unlike the Hector Plus, the Safari also offers the 6-speed AT option and it doesn't offer any petrol engine as of today. Hyundai Alcazar offers the best-in-segment fuel economy figures, however, its diesel engine is the least powerful among the three SUVs.

All three SUVs offer new-age features like LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, large touchscreens with both Android Auto and Apple Car Play, third-row AC vents, panoramic sunroof, six airbags, connected car tech, automatic climate control and more. However, Hyundai Alcazar is the most equipped among the trio, offering features like the all-digital instrument cluster, drive and traction modes, voice commands for the sunroof, air purifier, rear seat foldable tables, wireless charging for the second row, ventilated seats and a lot more.

Hyundai Alcazar Vs MG Hector Plus Vs Tata Safari - Prices

Hyundai Alcazar has been launched today at introductory prices. The range starts from Rs 16.30 lakh and goes to Rs 19.99 lakh ex-showroom, PAN India. MG Hector Plus is priced from Rs 13.62 lakh and goes to Rs 19.60 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi. Tata Safari is the most expensive SUV here, starting from Rs 14.99 lakh and topping at Rs 21.81 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi.
