Skoda Karoq, Superb and Kodiaq get new infotainment

Skoda Auto has updated the infotainment systems of the Skoda Superb, Skoda Karoq and the Skoda Kodiaq SUV for the 2021 model year. The new infotainment is based on the Volkswagen Group's MIB 3 set up and now adds more connected car features and the Laura voice assistant, among other things.

The new features will be available on the 8-inch Bolero and Amundsen systems and on the 9.2-inch Columbus unit. The new units get a built-in SIM that allows for online services such as news and weather updates. The Laura voice assistant understands 15 languages, and can even process fluently spoken sentences in Czech, English, German, French, Italian and Spanish. Further, there is wireless SmartLink phone mirroring on offer, alongside Android Auto/Apple Carplay.

The new system allows you to create your own Skoda ID online. This means Skoda owners can simply take their preferred settings with them when buying a new Skoda or access them in another Skoda. The cloud-based system stores the user's preferred settings for the Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster, along with settings for the lighting, climate control mirrors and assistance systems. Other changes are the new USB-C ports all-wound an optional port in the rear-view mirror.

Many of these features will also make way to the Scala hatchback and Kamiq SUV. We expect quite a few of these developments to make their way into Skoda's India line-up over the next year, which will also include the production version of the Vision IN C-segment SUV due next year.
