Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650 trademark application filed

Eicher Motors Limited, the parent company of Royal Enfield, has filed a trademark application for the name of the Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650. This trademark application suggests that the bike maker is likely to use the Interceptor Bear 650 name for its upcoming scrambler 650 motorcycle. Royal Enfield is developing a wide range of new motorcycle based on the 650cc platform, including the Himalayan 650.

Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650: Design

Derived from the on-sale Interceptor 650, the new Interceptor Bear 650 is likely to carry forward some of its styling but with a few changes. It could also bear a few rugged and scrambler-style elements. As seen in the spy pictures of the test mules spotted testing in India and other countries, the Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 or the now Intercepter Bear 650, had a single side-slung exhaust, ribbed-pattern seat, different taillights mounted on a new and long rear fender, and bigger tyres wrapped in spoke wheels.

Although the Interceptor Bear 650 is expected to draw its inspiration from typical a scrambler, it might not be a full-blown scrambler going by the spy pictures. However, it could still be better for trails and probably rough mountain roads than the Interceptor 650.

Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650: Specification

If the previous spy shots are to go by, the Intercepter Bear 650 is likely to get a new upside down front forks setup from Showa that debuted with the Super Meteor 650. At the back, it will come with a dual-spring setup. Further, the Bear 650 could get a single disc at both ends, a single analogue cluster with Tripper navigation, LED headlight, a wide handlebar, and a pair of off-road friendly tyres paired with wire-spoke wheels. Meanwhile, it is expected to borrow Super Meteor 650 or even upcoming Himalayan 450's switchgear.

Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650: Engine and transmission

The Interceptor Bear 650 will be a 648cc parallel-twin air/oil-cooled engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. This motor makes 47PS and 52Nm of torque.
