Refreshed Bajaj Pulsar 150 to have UG6 model nomenclature
We have come to understand that the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 150 refresh, that we reported on a few days ago, is, in fact, the UG6 model and not a UG5 bike, as is being reported widely, since the model year 2017 version was the UG5. The bike is reportedly on sale already and gets a host of changes that Bajaj says are aimed at enhancing the riding experience in the 150cc segment. One of the biggest highlights on the 2018 Bajaj Pulsar 150 is the upgrade from the previous version's 31mm forks to fatter, 37mm telescopic forks, which should help in improving the bike's handling. The 2018 Pulsar 150 also gets split seats, a split grab rail and a new heat shield for the end can, along with better-finished footpegs. These are changes that had trickled down from the Pulsar 220 to the Pulsar 180 and as part of Bajaj's strategy of offering better technology on lower displacement models, the updates have made their way onto the Pulsar 150 as well. Another major addition to the 2018 Pulsar 150 is a 230mm rear disc brake, considering that several motorcycles in the 150cc segment now sport disc brakes at both ends.
Expected to command a premium of Rs 2000 over the outgoing bike that was priced at Rs 76,723, ex-showroom Delhi, the refreshed sports-commuter motorcycle will continue to use the same 149cc single-cylinder DTS-i twin spark engine from last year's bike. The engine produces 16PS and 12.5Nm but is expected to have better NVH levels this time. With that said, the 2018 Bajaj Pulsar 150 will continue to challenge the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer, Honda Unicorn 160 as also the Yamaha FZ-S FI.
